GOT A QUESTION ABOUT
TRAINING, SQUADS, OR JOINING TYNESIDE SWIM CLUB?
Here are answers to the most common questions from swimmers and parents.
How do I know which squad level my child is?
Contact us to book a squad trial. Please share your child’s details and any previous competition results so we can place them in the most suitable group for their trial.
Is land training included?
Yes! Our program includes both coached land training and swimmer-led pre-pool sessions. This gives swimmers the perfect balance between learning the importance of land work and developing accountability for their own preparation.
Is there a minimum attendance requirement?
Each squad has a recommended number of sessions per week to ensure swimmers make steady progress. Your coach will advise you on the expected attendance for your child’s squad.
Does Tyneside provide team trip opportunities?
Yes! We’ve organised multiple team trips to Abu Dhabi for competitions, as well as an overseas training camp in Repton, UK in 2025. These experiences are a fantastic opportunity for swimmers to develop independence and create lasting memories with their teammates.
How do I book?
Click Register Now and add your child as a swimmer on your account. Once you’ve sent a WhatsApp message or email requesting a squad trial, the coach will arrange the trial. After you’ve attended, the coach will update your child’s level on your account so you can select the appropriate sessions to attend.
Will my child be able to enter competitions?
Absolutely! We enter a range of competitions throughout the season. Some events have qualifying standards, while others allow entries with no previous times – meaning there’s something for every level of swimmer.
How are squad movements decided?
Squad movements are based on progress, attendance, attitude, and commitment, as well as meeting the training and performance standards for the next squad. Coaches regularly review swimmers and will discuss any potential moves with both swimmers and parents.
Does my child need team kit?
Yes, every swimmer is required to wear the training kit (t-shirt and shorts) when attending sessions. Swimmers taking part in competitions will also need the competition kit (polo shirt and jacket). Both can be purchased at https://ipusports.com/product-category/clubs/tyneside-clubs/
